Forum | The meaning of the Ex??? How important is the Ex???

First i want to explain my situation so you have an understanding.

ok,i have meet this guy 2 years ago,we had a very good time together.and be both felt really conacted.He called me almost everyday and he also told me that i m different then other women.He actually was the first who told me that he love me and its me who he think about day and night.
But there was this Ex girlfriend he was with 5 years befor he got back to germany.He told me about her but he also said "dont worry about her" .So i trusted him and believed him.
So 1 year ago i got regnant ,yes it was not planed,and he got upset with me.February this year he left germany to work in another country.Our contact is just through Skype.
Sometimes more sometimes less.
2 weeks ago we had a conversation and the ex girl came up.He told me about things with her and he also said she was there to visite him.I ask him how close they are and he answerd very close and i ask him if they are together.He didnt gave me an answer ,he only said" what this has to do with us"?He also said that me and him never talked about having an realtionship together.So i got upset because it hurt me.I told him when we first meet and as the exgirl talk came up and he said "dont worry about her "if he had told me that there were still feelings for her i would not ever had talked to him and get close to him.He said when me and him start daiting ,they didnt talked .And plus u cant do anything against feelings.And i do believe they were sleeping together too.because they were seen here in germany walking arround arm in arm.So he was with me and her at the same time.
But what he is saying about her is that he got feelings for her and he cares for her and they are very close but at the same time he say that she is very insecure and jealouse and she need so much attention and that this not what he is looking for into a woman..And he said that she loves him unconditionally and she gonna wait for him because she thinks that he is the right on and no matter what he is doing on the side she just concern at the day when he put the ring on her finger.
What he says about me is that i have good qualitys and that i m almost perfect and he cares for me too and he got feelings for me too.
I know he got a purpose with his work and that he has some goals where he want to be.
So my question is now …what is the meaning of an ex girlfriend to a man? Does she really mean so much to him because of that many years they were togehter .And the experiences they had?
That situation eats me up because i dont know what i should do..and because of the baby we have together.(by the way thast not his only child so he will not put that on his first place ).If i wouldnt have the child with him i would move on and never contact him again,but with the baby now …..hmmmm.idont know what i should do??? Since we had that day when we had that conversation we havent talked.he withdraw from me again.ofcourse .Yesterday i resvied and e mail and he said "sorry for me beeing a Ghost,but i had alot to do with work and i will let u know when i m on skype again.I miss seeing the baby,have a nice day" So now what????
