What comes to mind when you think ‘commitment’?
Here are ten things that are necessary to have in a committed relationship:
Openness – willingness to talk about anything and everything with your partner, trying new things together, and willingness to listen to your partner whether he wants to share his happiness, his sadness or an embarrassing moment.
Honesty and Integrity – being honest with your partner, being authentic, and being able to admit when you are wrong. Always be true to yourself, and be true to your partner. Where there is no honesty, there is no commitment.
True Commitment – thinking about your partner first is the true ingredient of a committed relationship.
Honor – treat your partner with honor, and receive the same in return.
Choose to love – chose to truly connect with your partner, without a hidden agenda, and always recognizing that your partner has needs to be fulfilled in a relationship.
Communication – knowing when to listen and not talk, and knowing that listening means not talking. Keep an open two-way dialogue, listen to each other and hear each other. Be sure to pay attention when your partner is sharing something with you, and acknowledge each other. Be forgiving, but remember to say sorry when you are wrong.
Faith – having faith in each other, in your partner’s beliefs, and helping your partner achieve his goals.
Support – stand by each others, cover each other’s back, and be each other’s best friend and a true partner.
Respect – they say with respect comes true love. When there is no respect, there is no love, and no commitment.
Trust – trust is one of the three pillars of a successful committed relationship: trust, respect and love. When trust in a relationship dies, commitment dies as well. There is no longer commitment when trust is gone.
All of these things are necessary for a committed relationship. So if you are struggling from not knowing how to make a man commit, if your boyfriend is not committing to you, and if you are tired from being in a state of limbo with the men you date, check out Guide To Commitment!
